Speaking, should I charge?
Eric G. Schneider, D. Min.

There is a BIG difference between what I call "Marketing Talks" vs."Informative Talks".

That is not to say that a "Marketing Talk" wont be informative, it just means that the information in a "Marketing Talk" is a little different than an "Informative Talk" or workshop.

Here are the THREE aspects to consider when thinking about any talk:

1. WHAT

2. WHY

3. HOW

Now, if we are talking about a "Marketing Talk" regardless of the subject, you will offer the WHAT and the WHY of that topic.

The HOW is something that is paid for!

So, for instance... Lets say you are giving a talk about stress:

" You could talk about levels of stress

" What stress does to your body, mind and spirit

" Why it is important to deal with stress

And you could even mention some of the ways a person could deal with stress.

(ie: breathing methods etc.)

However, if you want to teach these methods, then I would create another class/talk/workshop where these techniques could be learned and practiced and would be charged for.

Talks are an excellent way to increase your visibility and your role as a leader in your community and some can be an additional source of income!
