From The Editor
From the Editor:
Happy weekend all! Hope you enjoy the news this week. We've got quite a
selection from around the world!
In other news, I received this tip-off from a reader. This email came to her
and she was afraid it's a scam. While the email is particularly targeted to
Acupuncturists (and please be aware that the Acupreneur does NOT sell or rent
our email list to anyone ever) it is actually a
popular scam right now. My suggestion would be to contact the FBI and forward
this email to them. While not a lot will probably happen, they do like to be
aware of who is being targeted and how. Here's the scam letter for your
perusal:
From: alicemassaggio@yahoo.it Subject: Message From Mr. Merillo To:
[redacted]
Dear [redacted], Gooday
and thanks for your mail.Am very sorry for the late reply i was very busy with
work, you sound like a very nice person am sure Mr.Phillip Merillo will love
working with you. I just sent him a copy of the message you sent me, he said he
will like to know if the acupuncture can be done for 60mins in the morning
before 12:00Noon as most of his photo shoots are for 6:30pm and
4:00pm.
Mr.Merillo will be making reservations in the hotel below next week and
he will give you all the details you will need as soon as the reservation is
done and also his flight details.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites 27891 Crown Lake
Blvd, [redacted]
Pls let me know if this hotel is close to you and if you will like to work on
him in the hotel or your office.
Mr.Merillo said will like to know if he can pay you in US postal
money order? He said his boss gave him 4850usd in US postal money orders, been
payments for the acupuncture he will be needing and the rest for the modeling
Equipments he will be renting for his photo shoots. He said he would like to
know if he can send the money orders to you before his Arrival so that when you
cash the money orders you help him wire the rest to his Equipment rental manager
so that they can deliver his photo shoot Equipments to his Hotel before his
Arrival.
He said he would have sent the Money orders to the Equipments rental
manager him self but the Equipment rental manager said it will take 3 weeks for
the money orders to clear in their country in (Dubai) and that would affect his
job, so he said i should ask you if he can make the money order in your name so
that when you receive the money order you take it to your bank and deposit it,
when the funds are available you deduct the cost for the acupuncture and you
help him wire the rest to the Equipment rental company, let me know if he can
trust you to do this for him?
He will be coming on 3rd of September and you will start work
on him 4th of September. Pls kindly
send the following to his email address:
{ cutemerilo@yahoo.it } so
that he can make out the Money orders to you. He said as soon as he receives
your message he will send you his schedule and some of his pictures.
1)NAME ON CHECK.....................
2)ADDRESS,PLS NO P.OBOX ADDREESS................
3)DIRECT PHONE NUMBER.....................
4) TOTAL COST FOR ACUPUNCTURE( 12 Sessions of acupuncture 3
times Every week)
Pls do make sure you get back to him will the above
information and also let him know if you can take care of the transactions on
his behalf. Thank you very much and
do have a nice day.. Regards
Alice...
Again, if you get a letter like this please go to the FBI and their Internet Crime Complaint
Center. The whole goal of the scammer is to get you to cash their check and
send them money. Those checks are fake. And please pass on this info to everyone
you know. It should be known that acupuncturists are being targeted by these
low-lifes. Thanks for the tip LBL!!
And continue to email me with your thoughts, comments and news.
Cheers all and have a great weekend!

Alternative treatment may tame chronic pain - Botek has
suffered from chronic pain for almost three decades now. Eighteen percent of
Canadians suffer with him, and the national cost of chronic pain exceeds $10
billion annually, according to the Chronic Pain Association of Canada. In
order to function normally, Botek flies to Vancouver to undergo intensive
therapy for pain four times a year. He relies on an alternative form of
treatment called intramuscular stimulation therapy, for which he sees Dr. Chan
Gunn, president of the Vancouver Institute for the Study and Treatment of Pain
and pioneer of IMS treatment. Now 77 and a patient of Gunn's since he was 48,
Botek claims no one else performs the therapy as well as Gunn does.
Acupuncture training offered to Guagua folks - The
Parish Ministry Service, the social arm of the Parish of Saint James in Betis
here, is conducting Acupuncture and Reflexology training for local and nearby
parishioners who would like an easy way to earn money. According to Fe
Pineda, officer of the parish ministry service, the program aims to develop self
reliance among trainees and provide them with a source of income.

Acupuncture Good For Cancer Patients - The ancient practice of
acupuncture has been helping people with a variety of medical problems for
thousands of years, and some modern studies have shown it can be helpful to
people who suffer from nausea. For women having chemotherapy after breast
cancer, acupuncture may be one more weapon in the arsenal.
Northeast Campus: Acupuncture - A career
counselling programme on acupuncture has recently been organised by the career
counselling and guidance cell of Swahid Peoli Phukan College of Namti at the
college auditorium . The programme was conducted by the principal, S.S.
Jaman, while the head of the department of geography, Bharat Bhusan Bora,
elaborated on the objective of the meeting. The president of the college
management committee, Surendra Nath Borgohain, inaugurated the session.
Alternative practices stir debate - Although most
moms and dads cringe as they watch their babies get inoculations or shots of
antibiotics, other parents have embraced the use of needles to treat everything
from their infants' colic to their toddlers' chronic ear infections. They
swear by alternative practices such as massage, herbs and acupuncture, in which
ultra-thin needles are inserted at specific points to treat pain and other
maladies.
