From The Editor
From the Editor:
Happy weekend all and hope that
you had a productive and entertaining week. I, of course, worked like a
dog except for when I didn't. My official title of "flunkie" has been
passed around and agreed upon by everyone at my office. I actually hear my
boss tell someone on the phone "Don't worry Amy can take care of
everything." That's always a little scary to hear.
I did hear that one of my bosses
went to a hypnotist this weekend. I don't think he got what he expected,
but on the other hand since I suspect that what he expected was nothing he did
get what he thought. Either way I don't think he'll be going back.
But I have referred him to what I know to be a very good local (to him)
acupuncturist. Hopefully he can find more than he expects there. I
would hate to see him disappointed because I at least always hope for more than
I expect.
I do hope you all have a
fantastic weekend and manage to find some joy and fun in the wide world this
coming week. Please send me an email if there's anything you've got that
needs to be seen or heard.
Cheers all!

Greetings Dear Ones,
Yes, it is true...websites are important! But perhaps not in the usual
way you might think.
Many people struggle with SEO and content and all the rest hoping to use
their website as an online marketing tool...but the truth is, you have to market
off line and your website will be the second step in getting to know you right
after someone receives your business card.
In truth a website is only part of a marketing strategy and is a way for a
potential client to get to know you before making an investment.
So in order to make a website effective it must match the look and feel of
your practice.
For instance I have a client who is very medically oriented - pain, muscular
skeletal issues etc....and the website looks very spa like.
This incongruity will cost him over time.
Your website should be an online version of the look and feel of your actual
practice.
If you are struggling at all with your marketing materials here is a special
offer from The Acupreneur.
Right now, through September 30, 2008, you can get 20% off the usual rates
for website design by going to www.SSquaredStudio.com
Don't delay. Save time, save money and invest in yourself, your practice and
your future!!!!!
Many blessings to your success,
Dr. E

News of Interest!
Acupuncture for All - Affordable treatment in group settings
is catching on. Acupuncture is inherently low cost and adaptable to any setting.
The cost of disposable needles is just a few dollars per treatment. In the
United States, however, private treatment rooms and lengthy one-on-one sessions
with practitioners increase costs. At WCA, patients are scheduled at 10-minute
intervals and are treated in a shared area. Payment is on a $15 to $35 sliding
scale. The clinic sees some 400 patients a week at an average rate of $19 per
visit.
![]() Herbal Therapies 'Can Help Boost Fertility' Experts Cite Benefits
of Alternative Treatments - Alternative therapies such as acupuncture and
Chinese herbal medicine can be crucial tools for childless couples, according to
fertility experts who gathered last night for an event to mark the 30th
anniversary of IVF. Debate has raged about the efficacy of alternative therapies
for women undergoing infertility treatments. Only last week a study said
acupuncture did not increase the pregnancy chances of women on fertility
treatment. However, the organiser of last night's Edinburgh event,
and city- based fertility awareness practitioner Juliet le Page, said a lot of
research had shown the benefits of complementary medicines in improving the
success rate of IVF treatment. A recent study claimed that women who were
given acupuncture after implantation during IVF were 65per cent more likely to
conceive than those who were not.
Acupuncture comes to the aid of multiple sclerosis patients -
Acupuncture has dramatically improved the lives of multiple sclerosis (MS)
patients at a treatment centre in Nailsea. The practice is just one of a
number of therapies which are used by trained staff at the MS Therapy Centre in
Southfield Road to help ease the symptoms of
sufferers.
QiGong Slowly Calms Cancer Patients - The slow, gentle
movements and meditative, breathing exercises of qigong can help cancer patients
relax to lower their stress levels and help them tolerate treatment, experts
say.
Pet Rehab Centers On The Rise - Dog lovers will do just about
anything to keep their ailing pets out of pain, but surgery isn't always the
answer. Pet rehab centers are growing in popularity across the country, offering
everything from doggie pilates to acupuncture. Acupuncture, chinese herbs,
massages. It's all part of a growing trend in alternative medicine for pets. Not
all ailing pets need surgery but some require more than just dietary
supplements. And that's where physical therapy comes
in.

The Joys of the Skymall Catalog - I just returned from a
wonderful trip to Turkey and London, and the flight gave me the opportunity to
spend hours with one of my favorite diversions, the Skymall Catalog. Admit it!
You look at this thing full of wonders, and wonder who in the world buys them!
Check out this whopper: "Otzi, a 5,000 year old mummy found in the Alps during
1991, has spurred a whole new vigor into modern research of the Ancient Chinese
medical practice of acupuncture. Recent examinations of the mummy found that
Otzi has a number of tattoos that coincide with acupuncture points that would be
used to treat various ailments from which he was
suffering."
