From The Editor

From the Editor:

Cheers all and hope you've has a good productive week.

I had to hang up my spikes this week as I broke my driver last weekend.  I guess the timing was fortuitous as we're having scorching heat and there's talk of breaking records.  All kinds of things are getting broken around here.

I'm really impressed with the story about the amazing amount of Americans with cancer that use complementary medicine.  It's always a little pat on the back to see that what we do works and to get a little public pat on the back for it.  It almost a little bit makes up for all the quacks who can't see past the noses on their faces.

If you have any news to brighten my week a little more please pass it on. My email is editor@theacupreneur.com and I love to hear from you!

Have a great weekend!

"When you are content to be simply yourself
and don't compare or compete,
everybody will respect you."
Lao Tzu

Greetings Dear Ones!

Relationships are one of the most significant ways to create a full and thriving practice.

First, there are the relationships you have with your clients.  They are, or at least can be, a wonderful source of new clients.

Second, is just about everyone else you already know.  Make sure those people know what you do, whom you serve and how to contact you!

Third, are the as yet to be established relationships. These are relationships that may be started off entirely by you or through the recommendation of someone you already know.

All good business relationships are started off kinda like dating.

Take your time, be consistent and keep your promises!

To your success!

Dr. E

Quotes to Inspire

"Let us be grateful to people who make us happy,
they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom."
~ Marcel Proust

"Some of the biggest challenges in relationships come from
the fact that most people enter a relationship in order to
get something: they're trying to find someone who's going
to make them feel good. In reality, the only way a
relationship will last is if you see your relationship as
a place that you go to give, and not a place that you go to take."
~ Anthony Robbins

"Everything about business comes down to PEOPLE.
Where in business can we escape the impact of human care,
human creativity, human commitment, human frustration,
and human despair? There is no reason for anything in
business to exist if it does not serve the needs of people."
~ Bruce Cryer

"Work is love made visible.
And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste,
it is better that you should leave your work and
sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy."

~ Kahlil Gibran

  News of Interest!

Dry needles spur natural healing - Dry needling is a treatment where fine needles are inserted into the skin and tissues at certain points of the body for therapeutic purposes, such as pain relief, improvement in physical function and stimulation of natural healing. Unlike injections given by physicians or nurses, no substance or drug is injected into the body and hence the term "dry" needling. The needles are generally stainless steel, very thin, flexible, and rounded, but sharp at the tip. Two widely practiced forms of dry needling include 'acupuncture' and 'intramuscular stimulation (IMS)'.

Half US cancer patients use complementary medicine - Nearly half of cancer patients use complementary and alternative therapies, finds the American Cancer Society. The study, in the journal Cancer, is one of the first to examine use of such therapies beyond the treatment phase of oncological diseases. Researchers looked at use of complementary and alternative therapies by 4139 people with one of ten cancers surveyed 10 to 24 months after diagnosis. They were selected randomly from cancer registries and asked questions by mail and telephone.

Veterinarian advocates acupuncture - When Huisheng Xie held his first symposium in Reddick about alternative veterinary medicine, only 10 veterinarians made the trip to his Chi Institute for traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. Now, more than 100 veterinarians pack his classrooms, making the trek from as far away as Japan and Europe. There is a waiting list of at least 30 veterinarians wanting to learn how to incorporate Western veterinary medicine with traditional Chinese veterinarian care, he said.

Canadian coach happy to get the needle - Canadian gymnastics team coach Tony Smith was amazed yesterday when his back pain vanished after just one acupuncture session at the Olympic Village clinic. "It really does work," he said. "I will definitely recommend it to my athletes." Smith, who has long suffered from lower back pain, had just about given up hope after none of the various treatments he tried made any difference. "I thought I should give Chinese acupuncture a try, and found it really relieves the pain," he said.

Can hypnosis help to slow dementia? - Each week it seems new research sheds more light on elderly mental illness and clinical trials offer hope of new treatments, yet recent studies have suggested dementia sufferers may benefit from more unconventional methods. One recent development has seen elderly residents in some Welsh care homes given Nintendo Wii games, similar to those used in schools to encourage children to exercise, the BBC reports.Neath Port Talbot council hopes the games consoles will help to keep residents "mentally alert".Now, researchers at the University of Liverpool have found that effects of dementia can be slowed down through hypnosis, helping to improve the quality of life for those with the condition.
