From The Editor

From the Editor:

Cheers all and hope you had a fabulous week.  I myself feel completely drained.  As the weather turns I tend to get more and more run down.  I keep thinking that I should play the lotto so I can afford to be a snowbird and move somewhere sunny for the winter.  Somewhere I can play golf through the winter.  Where there aren't too many people and I can get a decent vodka tonic in the evening.  But seeing as how I have better chances of getting hit by lightening, I think I'll just buy some long underwear and a heat lamp and snuggle under my comforter with my cat.

But for the time being I will look for any good news form my favorite readers and writers.  And I do hope you're having a great autumn!

Have a great one.

The Coaching Corner...
Where Spiritual Wisdom
Meets Business Common Sense

From the desk of The Rev. Dr. Eric G. Schneider, D. Min.

"If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are heading."
~ Lao Tzu

Greetings Dear Ones,

Fear of Success!

Next week at the Pacific School of Oriental Medicine I am giving a talk on The Fear of Success.

I am very excited about this talk because it is the single most important variable to a practitioner's success.

You see, the fear of success is not a conscious process.  It is an unconscious process and then influences and directs our behavior.

So how does this manifest...

Well in any number of ways.

Have you ever left your business cards at home because you "forgot"?

Ever not asked your patients for referrals because you feel "uncomfortable" about it?

Do you peak at a certain number of clients each week, either through cancellations or just a lack of clients?

These are just some of the ways that our unconscious process prevents us from achieving success.  Some people refer to this as an internal saboteur.

So it is imperative to your success that you start paying attention to what is happening in your life and in your practice and understand that it has everything to do with your unconscious process and start taking corrective action!

It is time to free yourself from your own conditioning!

Many blessings,
Dr. Eric

Quotes to Inspire

"Procrastination is, hands down, our favorite form of self-sabotage."
~ Alyce P. Cornyn-Selby

"All business sagacity reduces itself in the
last analysis to judicious use of sabotage"

~ Thorstein Veblen

"Procrastination is the fear of success.
People procrastinate because they are afraid of the
success that they know will result if they move ahead now.
Because success is heavy, carries a
responsibility with it, it is much easier to
procrastinate and live on the 'someday I'll' philosophy."
~ Denis Waitley

"Self-sabotage is when we say we want something
and then go about making sure it doesn't happen."
~ Alyce P. Cornyn-Selby

Who else wants to know how to fill their
practice by UTILIZING their spiritual
values instead of compromising them?

Have you ever thought to yourself, "This has to be easier, it can't be this hard!"

Well you are not alone, there are thousands of practitioners out there who feel the same way you do and are struggling with the same challenges you are!

And that is why I wrote this book - to help you take the guesswork out of filling your practice and offer you a step-by-step method for filling it based on what is important to you with quality patients and clients.

You can purchase and download your copy of "Fill Your Practice In 100 Days, But Don't Start Counting Just Yet" right now!   Click here for more information...

  News of Interest!

California Gold Standard for Health Care Financing? - Sitting on the governor's desk awaiting signature at this moment is Senate Bill 840, considered to be the gold standard in single-payer health care financing bills. Imagine your current health plan, however good or bad it might be, then add comprehensive coverage of dental care, vision care (including eyeglasses), mental care, hospice, hearing aids, chiropractics, acupuncture, preventive care, substance abuse treatment, the list goes on, and of course prescription drugs. Now remove all of the co-payments and deductibles. Sound too good to be true? It's not.

Acupuncturist fined for treating child - An acupuncturist in the Swedish city of Sundsvall will have to pay a fine for illegally treating a young child, a court ruled.  Prosecution in the medical case had asked that the unidentified acupuncturist be fined for offering her medical services to a 1-month-old child who was suffering from colic, The Local said Friday. The acupuncturist admitted to the court that she knew regulations forbid unlicensed healthcare professionals from treating children 8 years old and younger but conducted the session nonetheless. She testified prior to her conviction that she ignored the regulations since she was friends with the infant's parents. The parents say their infant got better following the acupuncture procedure.

Gallagher to abandon world tour - Oasis' lead guitarist, Noel Gallagher, might abandon the American leg of the band's world tour as he is still bedridden following an onstage assault. The band has already cancelled many of its gigs due to the attack on Gallagher, who is now recovering in a New York hotel room. Pushed over during the band's performance at the V Festival in Toronto, Canada last Sunday, the rocker reportedly has several injuries and can barely walk. The star, writing on the band's official blog, even admitted on having acupuncture for a speedy recovery but in vain.

Hospitals Say Yes to Unconventional Care - Local hospitals are increasingly offering complementary and alternative treatment options to patients. Here are highlights: George Washington University Medical Center: Reiki, animal-assisted therapy (using dogs to relieve stress, for example) and music therapy are provided throughout the hospital. Doctors also refer patients to the Center for Integrative Medicine, which offers many unconventional treatments, including acupuncture, homeopathy, naturopathy and massage therapy. University of Maryland Medical System: Acupuncture and reiki are offered for free at the Shock Trauma Center, and plans are underway to create a hospital-wide reiki program. The Center for Integrative Medicine also offers a wide variety of treatments including homeopathy, massage therapy, yoga and reiki.

Nerves Tangle, and Back Pain Becomes a Toothache - When people have a heart attack, a classic symptom is shooting pain down the left arm. That symptom, it turns out, has something in common with a far more benign kind of pain: the headache one can get from eating ice cream too fast. Both are examples of what doctors call referred pain, or pain in an area of the body other than where it originates. Such sensory red herrings include a toothache resulting from a strained upper back, foot soreness caused by a tumor in the uterus, and hip discomfort when the problem is really arthritis in the knee.
