From the Editor:

Cheers all and sorry this a quick message but I just realized my library movies are due today and I haven't watched them yet.  I can't always keep track which are 3 weeks and which are one.  So I'm about to sit down with a big bowl of popcorn and try to relive a little of my childhood with the first seaon of The Muppet Show.  I think I'll need a few more pillows on the floor.  And it'll totally have to be worth the $1 fine I'm going to get for returning it late tomorrow.

I do hope you enjoy some of the news. I read the story about how doctors are getting a failing grade for their non-empathetic qualities and all I could see is more room for CAM to move in and take over.  It's all good news, folks, that the people realize they aren't getting the care they deserve with Western medicine.  And those allopaths will either have to shape up or ship out and all they seem to be doing (to me at least) is whining.  Maybe Phil Gramm was right that we're a nation of whiners but I think he got the about what wrong.

Hope you have a fabulous weekend, plan and do something wonderful before it's too cold and yucky to do anything.

Cheers,

Amy

"Fall seven times, stand up eight."
~ Japanese Proverb

Greetings Dear Ones,

What did I learn????

Yesterday I gave a talk on the inner game of practice success at the Pacific School of Oriental Medicine in NYC.

You see, we had thought the practitioners had the information and support they needed but were struggling with their own programming. While many still struggle with their own unconscious programming, we found out that it was the least of their challenges.

This program was supposed to be about how our unconscious mind controls our behavior and how our behavior then supports or sabotages our success but in order for this talk to be useful, it was assumed that they had the information and knew what to do but found that they were their own obstacle to practice success.

Ask yourself:

Do I know how to speak about what I do in a compelling way?

Am I creating good solid referring relationships with others who serve my community?

Do I know how to "sell" my services in a way that is consistent with my values?

Do I know how to market my services in a way that is consistent with my values?

Do I know how to ask for referrals in a way that is consistent with my values?

Well as you can see, there are a lot of do I know's ...if you dont know...then get some tools to help you find out:

1. Join the Acupreneur - a one-year membership is
      a. tax deductable and
      b. the addition of only one new patient.

2. Buy the book: Fill Your Practice in 100 Days, But Don't Start Counting Just Yet

Get the information and support you need and if you don't get it from me...get it from someone else...but don't NOT get it!

Many blessings to you,
Dr. Eric

"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.

Who else wants to know how to fill their
practice by UTILIZING their spiritual
values instead of compromising them?

Have you ever thought to yourself, "This has to be easier, it can't be this hard!"

Well you are not alone, there are thousands of practitioners out there who feel the same way you do and are struggling with the same challenges you are!

And that is why I wrote this book - to help you take the guesswork out of filling your practice and offer you a step-by-step method for filling it based on what is important to you with quality patients and clients.

  News of Interest!

Oriental medicine college opens acupuncture clinic - The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine has opened its first freestanding satellite clinic, a Hollywood District office that will offer low-cost acupuncture for the public.  At the new clinic, 1827 N.E. 44th Ave., interns and clinic supervisors will offer acupuncture treatments for $12, as compared to the typical $50 to $90 charged by licensed acupuncturists.  Interns have provided acupuncture at community clinics in the Portland area for a decade, but the new Hollywood clinic is the first satellite clinic operated solely by the college.

Acupuncture and Its Slow Acceptance in Mainstream Science Circles - Acupuncture is a medical procedure in which the function of bodily systems is influenced by stimulating connective and muscular tissue at specific points on the body. The practice, once thought to be something akin to folklore in the West, has gained widespread acceptance and popularity. The reasons are not hard to understand when you consider the trouble-free relief many experience from acupuncture, as well as the many faults and problems with conventional medicine, such as debilitating side effects and pharmaceutical recalls.

DOH: Hepatitis B cases on the rise - The Department of Health on Thursday warned the public of the high prevalence of hepatitis B cases in the country with around 500 to 700 cases reported every year. Dr. Eric Tayag, officer-in-charge (Director IV) of the DOH National Epidemiology Center, said early childhood infections are very common, making it more dangerous. "Those who get hepatitis B at birth or at a young age have higher chances of getting chronic infection as compared to when you get it later," Tayag said in a media information session at the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) Building in Makati City.

Acupuncture Reduces Painful Side Effects of Breast Cancer Treatments - Ancient Therapy Challenges Benefits of Modern Medicine.  A new medical study finds that acupuncture, an ancient form of healing that has been around for thousands of years, is as good as, or better than modern medicine in helping ease the side effects of breast cancer treatment. The findings, which were presented today at the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology's annual meeting in Boston, suggest that this ancient therapy can give cancer patients a wide range of benefits above modern medicine.

Doctors Miss Many Opportunities to Show Empathy - Empathy is the acknowledgment and understanding of another person's feelings or emotional situation.  Empathetic doctors generally have patients who are more satisfied with their treatment and are more likely to comply with medical recommendations.  Unfortunately, not all doctors readily express empathetic thoughts, according to a study recently published in the Archives of Internal Medicine.
