From The Editor

From the Editor:

Happy week everyone and wow what a fast election.  I actually got up before the crack of dawn (where's the sun?) to get to my voting station when they opened and I still had to wait in a line for an hour to vote.  I was really surprised that the vote was able to be called so quickly for the national vote.  I guess the last few elections have conditioned me to be prepared to wait up most of the night for election results.  I'm certainly not knocking a full nights sleep!

So we all voted, made our voice heard, and now it's time to get to the business of what we can reasonably expect to happen in the next 4 years.  Myself I'm looking forward to see the new updates that we might see in the healthcare industry.  What are you looking to see in the new administration?  Do you think your life will change in the next few years, months, weeks even?  I hazard to guess the answer is yes.  Lots of factors of our economic success or failure are reliant on how people feel and maybe some of the good feelings of the prospect of a change in administration will send itself into the world and help us succeed more.

So I will just wait and see and hope for the best.  Let's all cross our fingers for some good news on Wall Street for us all.

Cheers all and have a great weekend!

"At the center of your being you have the answer;
you know who you are and you know what you want."
~ Lao Tzu

Greetings Dear Ones,

Systems...what are they and do they really help?

A system in relation to a private practice is a way of chunking actvities so that they are done in an efficient manner with the least amount of effort.

While many talk about automating systems, which I think is a great idea, many don't really understand the basic premise that makes them work...

Relationships

Your success in your private practice is all about the quality of the relationships that you establish and if you are a brilliant acupuncturist and have fantastic systems in place and you lack exceptional relationship skills it won't matter what systems you put in place...

So no matter what systems you have in place or are putting into place make sure they are patient centered!

Many blessings to your success!

Dr. Eric

Quotes to Inspire

"To be successful, you have to be able to relate to people;
they have to be satisfied with your personality
to be able to do business with you and to
build a relationship with mutual trust."
~ George Ross

"Assumptions are the termites of relationships."
~ Henry Winkler

"Sometimes, the hardest decision made is the right thing to do."
~ Yanny Natashah

"Work is love made visible.
And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste,
it is better that you should leave your work and
sit at the gate of the temple and
take alms of those who work with joy."
~ Kahlil Gibran

Who else wants to know how to fill their
practice by UTILIZING their spiritual
values instead of compromising them?

Have you ever thought to yourself, "This has to be easier, it can't be this hard!"

Well you are not alone, there are thousands of practitioners out there who feel the same way you do and are struggling with the same challenges you are!

And that is why I wrote this book - to help you take the guesswork out of filling your practice and offer you a step-by-step method for filling it based on what is important to you with quality patients and clients.

You can purchase and download your copy of "Fill Your Practice In 100 Days, But Don't Start Counting Just Yet" right now!   Click here for more information...

  News of Interest!

Virginia-Maryland Veterinary Teaching Hospital Offers Acupuncture - Needles are often equated with pain and discomfort; however, for a horse named Gypsy the tiny sharp objects brought relief as Mark Crisman, DVM, MS, Dipl. ACVIM, a professor in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences in the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, administered acupuncture therapy. Gypsy had an infection in her fetlock and Crisman was using acupuncture--along with traditional therapy--to help strengthen her bones and immune system, and provide pain relief.

Health Plan Offers Some New Benefits, Some Reduced Costs - Each year, University Human Resources reviews and updates the University of Virginia Health Plan to meet current needs of staff and faculty. As a result of this year's review, the plan will offer several benefit enhancements, including wellness initiatives, coverage for acupuncture and half the cost of dental implants, said Susan Carkeek, vice president and chief human resource officer.

Veterans Day ahead: Local acupuncturists' unique plan - From West Seattle acupuncturist Miranda Taylor (who you may know for her advocacy with the High Point Neighborhood Association), we get word of acupuncturists citywide banding together to offer free services to Iraq/Afghanistan combat veterans on November 11th, and planning a permanent clinic to support them.

A Natural Path: Acupuncture and homeopathy can help smokers quit - Nov. 20, 2008 is the American Cancer Society's 'Great American Smoke Out'. There are a myriad of ways in which to quit. Medications, hypnotherapy, nicotine patches and gums, behavior modification, herbal medicines, homeopathic remedies and acupuncture all help people quit. It is difficult to determine which method will work best for you, but I guarantee that if you want to quit, and I mean really want to quit, you can and will succeed, regardless of the method you chose.

Acupuncture, a mixed blessing - Acupuncture has started to appeal to many urbanites looking for quick and easy cures or wanting to painlessly tailor and sculpt their body tissues into trim, glam bodies. But it's not all that simple. Acupuncture is not about lying down passively while doctor pricks all your the pressure points to endow divine beauty and health. Janti Widjaja, a doctor at Puri Indah Hospital in West Jakarta, said acupuncture caused no harmful effects, only a bit of discoloring of the skin, bruising. "But this side effect is temporary and not dangerous," she said when questioned recently by a patient on acupuncture's potential hazards. "On the other hand, better therapeutic effects will appear with more frequent acupuncture treatments."
