From The Editor
From the Editor:
Cheers all. I'm going to make
this letter short and sweet this week as I'm up to by eyeballs in yarn.
Thanksgiving is only about 2 weeks
away and that means I've got to get done 6 scarves and a blanket in less than 6
weeks. Someone remind me why I'm hand-making all my Christmas presents
this year? I thought it would be a nice change from the rampant
consumerism of the holiday. But you know I spend probably just as much
money and now I'm completely frazzled as well. I should have just stuck to
the idea of hand-making really nice Christmas cards instead of making everyone a
scarf or blanket. Well I'm still going to make the Christmas cards (thank
you Google how to!) so we'll just add that to the bottom of my list
anyhow. Anybody got any recommendations for crazy and unrealistic
plans?
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend
and don't drive yourselves to the same level of distraction as yours
truly.

Greetings Dear Ones!
Build Relationships...
...By moving away from high touch and high tech and moving back to high touch
and low tech.
There are many methods that build relationships through high tech
means. Even this
newsletter does that. In the Acupreneur's
case we use this and we use the free e-book as well. These are all high
tech methods that help the busy practitioner make contact.
And, let me just say, they are all good!
But, in this day and age, where there is a tremendous shifting of values and
focus, we are moving back to more intimate contact.
Building your community takes more than just finding ways of staying in
touch. Building your community takes meaningful ways of staying
in touch.
The other day in my class at Pacific School of Oriental Medicine, I explained
one of the my pet methods to my students.
I call my former clients...yup...that's right...every week, I go from
oldest to newest and call them just to check in and see how they are doing.
Before I do, I review their file and check my notes.
Then, I simply call. I ask them how they are doing, how the problem
that they came in for is doing...This is so incredibly powerful because about
50% of the time they say....
"I am so glad you called, I have been having trouble with________can you
help me with that?"
So while I am an advocate of high tech methods of contact...don't neglect the
low tech ones!!
Best,
Dr. Eric!

Who

News of Interest!
Traditional medicine passes WHO health checks - Health
representatives from more than 70 countries gathered in Beijing on Friday to
swap ideas on how to make traditional medicine, ranging from acupuncture to
leech treatment, more widely available. The two-day World Health
Organisation (WHO) event, built around seminars on regulatory standards and folk
medicine in cultures from South Africa to Japan, is expected to end with member
countries agreeing to expand traditional medicine in their health care
systems. WHO officials at the event said blending traditional and Western
medicine could make each more
effective.
![]() Raising Eyebrows With Acupuncture Facelifts - The quest for
youth has made Americans turn to Botox nearly 3 million times last year where
nearly a quarter million people had an eye-lid lift. But how does an acupuncture
facelift sound? "Basically what we're doing is, we're stimulating the body
to heal itself," said Acupuncturist Lynn Jaffe. The techniques of
acupuncture follow ancient maps of unseen currents flowing though the body. The
notion is that every cell of your being creates energy and there is health when
that energy flows in harmony.
Hua Tuo, A Miraculous Healer in Ancient China - Hua Tuo, also
named Yuanhua, was from Pei Guo Jiao, today's Hao County in Anhui Province. He
was a legendary physician in the 2nd century. Hua Tuo sought neither rank nor
remuneration. He completely devoted himself to the study of medicine, and
achieved outstanding results in many areas. His eminence in ancient China
accorded him the name "miraculous healer."
Acupuncturist strikes back against article - I am currently in
school to become an acupuncturist Ac. DOM (Doctor of Oriental Medicine). I have
to say I was appalled by your newspaper article. Because you are uneducated
about acupuncture, might I suggest not making any comments on a subject you know
nothing about. And, quite frankly, Dr. Gott, there is all kinds of scientific
research available. In fact, if you where watching the Olympics, as the whole
world was on Aug. 17, 2008, their was a small piece on acupuncture you might
have been interested in. Then again, you are a doctor in a box, as per usual to
the stereotype of a
doctor.

New Hampshire Association of Naturopathic Doctors recently announced that Dr.
Brian Paterson of LRGHealthcare's Holistic Health Center, has been appointed by
Governor John Lynch to the New Hampshire State Board of Naturopathic Examiners.
The Board reviews and approves the applications of all naturopathic doctors

A great
day for quitters - An estimated 45 million Americans still smoke cigarettes,
but come Thursday, Nov. 20, those numbers might drop a bit. It's the American
Cancer Society's 33rd annual Great American Smokeout--a day when anti-tobacco
forces rally on behalf of smokers, and would-be ex-smokers are encouraged to
spend the day puffless in solidarity with each other. Of course, quitting an
addictive substance is never easy, but one local business is chipping in to help
some folks get started on the path to a smoke-free future. Daoist Traditions in
Asheville, which specializes in Chinese medicine, if offering free ear
acupuncture on Saturday, Nov. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. "By calming the nervous
system and promoting a sense of well-being, acupuncture helps to deal with
anxiety and agitation, which in turn makes it possible to deal with the
cravings," says a statement announcing the
offer.
