From the Editor:

Cheers all and welcome to another week of the Acuprenuer's Community Newsletter.  I have to admit to writing this issue of the newsletter on a tray table in the middle of a mostly empty room.  Well empty except for all the boxes surrounding me.  I'm really trying to move out of my apartment before Christmas comes otherwise I'll be driving a rental truck around town like some kind of weird Santa Claus only I'll have a freezer and a Barca-lounger instead of gifts in the back of my sleigh.  I really hate moving.

I do want to send out a wicked big thank you to Mike from Emily's Skin Smoothers.  Mike took pity on my little sicky self (I swear this is the cold that won't go away either I can't get rid of the sniffly nose or low energy) and sent me some amazing new cream for my chapped nose.  Mike you are my hero!!

So if this weekend you're all not doing anything you're more than welcome to come to the Pacific Northwest (where it's currently snowing -- oh joy) and help me shift all my stuff.  I wonder what I wouldn't miss if it stayed behind?

Hope your weekend is better than mine!

Dear Readers of The E-Forum!

1. I want to thank you for being a reader of the E-Forum.

2. I want to thank Amy (our illustrious editor) for all of her hard work and effort to bring you news of Acupuncture's visibility!

I am truly blessed.

Over the years we have tried to bring you news and information that would be supportive of your practice and your success and we hope that it has helped you do that.

However, due to greater demands on my time, we are reducing the E-Forum to once a month and our focus will be on your success as a practitioner.

We hope you enjoy the new format.

Wishing you splended success in the New Year!

Dr. Eric

Who else wants to know how to fill their
practice by UTILIZING their spiritual
values instead of compromising them?

Have you ever thought to yourself, "This has to be easier, it can't be this hard!"

Well you are not alone, there are thousands of practitioners out there who feel the same way you do and are struggling with the same challenges you are!

And that is why I wrote this book - to help you take the guesswork out of filling your practice and offer you a step-by-step method for filling it based on what is important to you with quality patients and clients.

You can purchase and download your copy of "Fill Your Practice In 100 Days, But Don't Start Counting Just Yet" right now!   Click here for more information...

  News of Interest!

Military tries 'battlefield' acupuncture to ease pain - Using ancient Chinese medical techniques, a small team of military doctors here has begun treating wounded troops suffering from severe or chronic pain with acupuncture. The technique is proving so successful that the Air Force will begin teaching "battlefield acupuncture" early next year to physicians deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan, senior officials will announce tomorrow. The initiative marks the first high-level endorsement of acupuncture by the traditionally conservative military medical community, officials said.

Vietnamese professor brings acupuncture to the world - With over 50 years of practicing and teaching Vietnamese traditional medicine, particularly acupuncture, Prof. Nguyen Tai Thu has become a renowned name in the field at home and around the world. With his master-of-art acupuncture skills, Prof. Thu has helped thousands across the world and taught acupuncture to a large number of local and foreign doctors. Now 78, he is still active. He has a great memory and can recall events long-past.

Acupuncture may help ease Raynaud's - Q. I've suffered with Raynaud's disease in my hands for two years. There is no underlying cause, such as lupus. My doctor has prescribed blood pressure medicines that are supposed to work for this condition, but nothing seems to help. Is there a natural remedy that might help? Would acupuncture work?  A. People with Raynaud's syndrome really suffer in the winter. In this condition, blood vessels in the hands and feet constrict. Fingers may turn white or blue and be painful or numb. The colder the temperature, the worse the symptoms. Acupuncture may be helpful. One small study found that acupuncture reduced attacks by 63%, compared with a 27% reduction in the control patients (Journal of Internal Medicine, February 1997).

Acupuncture holding its popularity - It's been used in China and Japan for centuries, but has only become popular in the U.S. over the past 20 to 30 years. It's called acupuncture. According to the National Institute of Health there are currently more than 10 million adults in the U.S. that have used acupuncture at some time in the past, or are using it currently. From chronic back pain, to high anxiety.

Feline good: Asthmatic cat treated with acupuncture - A cat that suffered asthma and a cough for three years has been cured, after her owner shunned traditional treatments and gave her pet a course of acupuncture. South African alternative therapist Virginia Sanders turned to needle-based treatment to help her eleven-year-old Siamese cat Kiki. Kiki had been given cortisone injections for her asthma but Ms Sanders was worried this might eventually damage the moggie's liver.

Civic League to close after 92 years - The Framingham Civic League, which has called 214 Concord St. home for 92 years, will likely shut its doors for the final time at the end of this month. After determining the nonprofit organization would be financially unsustainable, the league is in the midst of selling the 18,000-square-foot building to MassBay Community College, which will use the building for classrooms. "We can't afford to keep it open anymore," said the group's executive director Ellen Sturgis.
